GODLY PLAY PROGRAM
 
Our Sunday School Program for Ages 3 through 12 is Godly Play. Godly Play was developed by Dr. Jerome Berryman. It is based on the Montessori Method, which is a kind of open classroom, that is open in two ways: The access to the learning materials is open; and the children can choose the ways and route by which to achieve their learning goals. This enables children of different learning styles and different personalities to work toward their own learning goals in their own way. The goal is the same for the whole class, but the way to get there is open.
 
Godly Play uses a careful telling of scripture stories, story figures and a variety of activities to encourage children to seek and find their own answers to their faith questions. By using the Montessori Method of classroom teaching, the main goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using the language of the Christian tradition to encounter God and to find direction in and for their own lives.
