What are the visible signs of the church? Theologians have said it is the word--proclaimed--and the "right" administration of the sacraments. Yet in Romans, Paul is speaking to the visible witness that comes when we display our love for one another--the insiders and the outsiders, and even our enemies. In this uncertain time, the Apostle Paul calls us to love as he calls the church to "rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and persevere in prayer."
