Martha Langford

Martha Langford is a native Houstonian and a 2007 graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After seminary, she served churches in Chicago and Rochester, New York.  

Martha holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University and served five years as a Communications Officer in the United States Army.  Before entering seminary, she served as the Director of Communications for the Presbytery of New Covenant in Houston.

A “cradle” Presbyterian, Martha loves reading, writing, arts and crafts, walking, and action/adventure movies among other things. After a long sojourn out of state, she is delighted to return to Texas where she is near her family. Her mother, brothers, and sisters live in the greater Houston area. Her daughter Carolyn and granddaughter Rose live near Dallas/Fort Worth.


Bobbie Nash

Bobbie began her service as Administrative Assistant in May 2020. She came to La Grange and First Presbyterian Church in 2008 to join family already living in the Muldoon area. She and her husband George live in the city with their family of cats. She enjoys their farm, gardening, llamas, sheep, and fiber crafts, and she volunteers around the community. Bobbie feels fortunate to have her son and daughter near by along with grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Bobbie is also an ordained Presbyterian Elder, who has served as Clerk of Session for the last several years.



Jean McHenry

Jean was born in San Antonio, Texas. At two, she moved with her parents, Etta Mae Hargus and Cleo Jackson Smith, to live on the Gulf Coast.  She played for her first church service at the age of eleven and became interested in organ by age fourteen. Jean studied organ and piano at University of texas where she was also a member of the Symphonic Band, University Singers, Acapella Choir and the Texas Stars Drill Team. After leaving university, she worked at Texas Eastern Transmission Company and Exxon in Houston. 

In 1959, she met and married Dr. John McHenry who passed away in February of 2000.  She has three children and three grandchildren. While in Houston, Jean served sixteen years at St. Luke's Methodist Church as accompaniest for the children's choir. In 1990, Festival Hill circulated the job posting for an organist at First Presbyterian Church and in May of that year Jean moved to LaGrange and began her tenure with this congregation.

In her three decades in LaGrange, Jean has become a member of Citizens on Patrol and also plays organ for St Paul's Lutheran Church. Jean likes to attend concerts, loves gardening, sewing, watching tennis, football, and ice skating, and she is a member of the Fourth Thursday Quilters.


Jim Allbright

Jim is ordained as a Presbyterian Elder and began serving the Session in January of 2016. In 2018, he accepted an additional term of service that began January of 2019.

Jim is chair of the Finance and Administration committee.



Jeremy Janda

Jeremy Janda was ordained as an Presbyterian Elder in 2016 and began service on the Session in January of 2017.
He serves as chair of the Buildings and Grounds committee. 


Ben Schovajsa

Ben was ordained a Presbyterian Elder in 2018 and began service on the Session in January of 2019.

He serves as co-chair of the Christian Education Committee.


Anna Katherine Schmidt

Gene has served this church in many capacities and is currently the chairman of the Worship Committee.  He and his lovely bride Anna are constantly looking for ways to support their friends and neighbors.  They live with their 4 legged family and enjoy the benefits of being part of the Fayette County Community.
