Welcome to Worship at First Presbyterian Church!

First church gathers each Sunday morning at 10:30am to lift our voices in praise and prayer, to hear God’s word in scripture and music and preaching, to respond to God with our gifts and personal commitment to the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have a traditional liturgy which includes music and visual beauty as joyful and integral parts. We celebrate The Lord's Supper regularly and welcome all who profess Jesus as Lord to take part in the sacrament.

Marking Life Events through Worship

The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in the context of Sunday worship. When we baptize, the congregation makes promises to be a community of nurture for the newly baptized. At the baptism of infants and children, parents make promises to raise their children in the faith. At the baptism of youth and adults, the baptized makes professions of faith and promises to seek after the ways of Jesus in the community of the church. Baptisms are scheduled after consultation with the pastor, Martha Langford, and approval by the Session.

With great joy, First Church celebrates occasions when two people pledge themselves in the covenant of marriage. Couples seeking a service of Christian marriage will—according to the rules governing the Presbyterian Church (USA) receive instruction from the pastor. Weddings are approved by the pastor, Martha Langford, in consultation with the First Church Session.

Funerals and Memorial Services

At the time of death, First Church seeks to provide pastoral care and support including services that proclaim our faith and celebrate the life of those who have died. Families may schedule the funeral or memorial service with the pastor in conjunction with our music staff. Our Congregational Care committee coordinates a time of reception following the service.

For more information about any of these services, please be in touch with the church office 979.968.9424 or fpclagrange@outlook.com.
